Counting calories is a popular strategy for weight loss and weight management. It involves tracking the number of calories you consume each day and ensuring that you are eating fewer calories than you burn.
What is a Calorie?
Calories are a unit of energy that are found in all foods and beverages. When you consume more calories than your body needs, the excess calories are stored as fat, leading to weight gain. Conversely, when you consume fewer calories than your body needs, you will lose weight.
Your BMR is the number of calories your body needs to function at rest. There are many BMR calculators available online that can help you determine this number.
